DEAN OF STUDENTS
Hello, my name is Chris Matthews. I have spent my entire life in eastern North Carolina growing up in Plymouth NC on the banks of the Roanoke River. My wife of 32 years, Joyce, and I have always loved Beaufort and were fortunate enough to make it our home in 2016. I am a three time graduate of East Carolina University (Go Pirates!) I have two adult sons, Luke and Logan, one daughter in law, Summer, and one soon to be daughter in law Morgan. I have three fur babies, Chloe, Skye and Skully.
The 2021-2022 school year marks my 21st year in education. I began my career in education as a lateral entry math and science teacher after spending 10 years in banking, insurance and real estate. I transitioned to teaching Middle and High School Business in 2001. I also served as an Assistant Football Coach and Baseball Coach at Jamesville High School, Head Baseball Coach at Williamston Middle School and Medical First Responder at Williamston High School and Riverside High School all in Martin County. I completed my Masters of Education in School Administration in 2011, and my Educational Specialist In Educational Administration and Supervision in 2017. I have had the privilege to serve as an Assistant Principal for Martin County Schools at East End Elementary, Rodgers Elementary, EJ Hayes Elementary and Riverside High School. I look forward to joining the Beaufort Middle School family. In my spare time I enjoy fishing, boating, or just hanging out at Wade Shore or the Cape.
